Title: A Mother Knows
Category: Smallville
Rating: K
Genre: Frienship/Comedy
Pairing: Chloe/Oliver
Warnings: Canon has been annihilated.  Embrace it.  Before you try telling me something doesn't fit, stop yourself and realize: I know.
Summary: Moira opens her door to find a twelve-year-old Oliver Queen looking for her daughter.

Prompt: Know its not Chlollie, but love a good Moira/Little Chloe one, maybe add little Oliver in it or something

Also based on my concept that everything was just simpler when we were kids.

There are some things a mother just knows.  There’s no explanation, not really, but somehow, she knows, and when Moira Sullivan took one look at the little blonde boy standing on her doorstep, she knew.

“Oh boy,” she said, releasing a puff of breath as she looked down at him.

“Does Chloe Sullivan live here?” he asked politely, shuffling his twelve-year-old feet slightly.

Moira nodded.  “Come right in, sweetheart,” she said, opening the door a little wider for him and letting him step inside.

“Thank you,” he said.  He stood there patiently, waiting for her to do something, but Moira just stood there, eyebrows arched, appraising him.  He cleared his throat uncomfortably and she jumped slightly.

Shaking her head at herself for a moment she smiled at him.  “Why don’t you come in the kitchen and have a seat?  I’ll call her down for you.”

The boy thanked her again, promptly removing his snow boots and setting them by the door.  He followed her into the kitchen where he unzipped his winter coat and slung it on the back of a seat before he sat down at the table to wait.  Here Moira left him and there he stayed until her return.

She walked upstairs and found her daughter flopped on her stomach playing on her computer, typing away furiously about something...probably something that had to do with Extraterrestrials if she knew her daughter.  Which she did.
She leaned in the door frame, folding her arms over her chest, smiling at her daughter.  Chloe’s strawberry hair had slowly begun changing into blonde this year.

She sighed a little.  Why do they have to grow up?  Why do there have to be little boys on my doorstep?

“Chloe,” she said, and Chloe looked up questioningly, her fingers still clacking away at the keyboard.  “What are you writing about?” she asked.

“Mr. Thompson’s cow.”

“Interesting.”

“Mr. Thompson says his cow was abducted by aliens.”

And there it was.  Aliens.  Moira smiled still broader.  Finally she said, “There’s a boy here to see you.”

For the first time Chloe’s little fingers stopped there furious progress across the keys of the computer.  She sat up straighter.  “Oliver?” she asked, and Moira didn’t miss the little note of excitement in her voice.

“I imagine so.  May I ask who this Oliver is?”

Chloe’s cheeks flushed a happy shade of pink.  “A boy.”

“Hmm, I gathered as much.”

“He goes to school with me.”

“What grade?”

“Seventh.”

Moira’s eyebrows practically disappeared into her hairline.  He was a year older.

“And where are you and Oliver going?”

“Sledding,” she said.

Moira’s lip twitched.  “And?”

“And maybe ice skating.”

“You don’t know how to ice skate.”

“He promised to teach me.”

Chloe looked anxious, as though she were worried that her mother wouldn’t allow her to go for some reason, but Moira just smiled.  “Dress warmly,” she said.

Chloe leapt off her bed and flung herself about her room, snatching up her coat from the back of her chair, her scarf from the floor, her boots from under her bed, a hat from the door of her closet and a pair of gloves from inside her backpack.  In moments she was flying downstairs, where she found Oliver in the kitchen and came to a sudden screeching halt of movement, taking on a shocking poise and calmness that Moira hadn’t known her daughter was capable of.

“Hey, Chloe,” Oliver greeted her pleasantly, rising and grabbing his coat.

“Hi, Ollie,” she said equally pleasantly.

He paused, looking around suspiciously.  “Your cousin isn’t coming, is she?”

Chloe shook her head and Oliver looked relieved.

“Good.  A.C. said if she was coming he wasn’t.”

Chloe giggled blithely as she followed Oliver toward the front door again.  “That’s just because he’s mad that she beat him at tetherball in gym class.  And soccer.  And track.  And wrestling.”

Oliver snickered, too.  “Just don’t say that to him.”

Chloe just giggled again, and Moira watched them go, the two of them clearly pleased to be in one another’s confidence.

“Be back in time for dinner, Chloe,” Moira warned her.

“I will!” she said, halfway out the door before pausing.  “Can my friends come for dinner?” she asked in a whisper, knowing she wasn’t supposed
to ask in front of a guest.

“How many?”

“Ollie, A.C., Bart, and Victor.”

“No girls?”

“Dinah’s visiting her grandparents for Christmas,” Oliver supplied when Chloe looked at him questioningly.  Chloe turned back to her mother and shook her head.

“All right.  I guess we’re ordering pizza,” she added with a little sigh as the door promptly shut.  She watched them walk away through the window beside the door and smiled to herself.  Well that was a first love just waiting to happen.  Probably for both of them.

Outside Oliver shoved his hands in his pockets to keep them warm.  “Your mom’s nice.”

“I know,” Chloe said pleasantly.  “She’s the best.  Where are the others?”

“They’re meeting us there.  I said I’d come get you.”

Chloe felt happy little butterflies, not reading too much into them, only knowing that it was nice receiving the attention that the boy next to her
always gave her without a second thought.

“Do you have any skates?” he asked her.

She shook her head.

“That’s okay.  You can wear my mom’s old pair from when she was a kid.  They’ll probably be all right for you.”

“Thanks,” she said, distracted as she glanced around at the glittering new-fallen snow around them that had turned her world into one of marshmallows and frosting.

An hour later, after a brief sledding expedition between the group, Oliver was toting a very wobbly Chloe across an ice rink lit by twinkle lights, Christmas music playing happily in the background.

“It’s okay.  You can let go,” he was telling her, but Chloe only gripped his finger tighter.

“I’m going to fall!” she wailed.

“You’re not going to fall.  I’ll be right here.  I’ll catch you if you do.”  He grinned an encouraging little smile at her.

Taking heart and feeling her cheeks warm in response, Chloe slowly loosened her grip.

“You’re doing it!” he said.  “Way to go!  See?  I told you it wasn’t that hard!”

She grinned shakily at him, focused on keeping her balance, but just as she did so, A.C. and Bart came barreling past, successfully knocking not just her, but Oliver off balance as well.  They crashed on top of each other and slid across the ice into the low cement wall that served as a barrier.

“ARGH!” Oliver let out.

“Sorry!” A.C. and Bart called over their shoulders, determined not to stop their race.

“Are you okay?” Chloe asked in a panic, detangling herself from him frantically.

Oliver winced as she accidentally jostled his leg.  “I think I sprained my ankle.  Crap.”  He cringed as he tried to move it.

Chloe glanced over her shoulder.  “Here, let’s get the skate off,” she said, beginning to untie the laces of his skate without waiting for
permission.

Oliver just watched her, startled as she became very serious and focused, removing his skates and then hers, sliding her arm under his and helping him stand and walk over to a bench where they sat down.

“Better get some ice,” Oliver muttered when they did, have to himself and half to her.

Chloe didn’t move though, biting her lip nervously and glancing around.  The rink was mostly empty, with the exception of Oliver and his friends, and no one was looking their way.

“Can you keep a secret?” she asked suddenly, looking at him hopefully.

He frowned, nodding.  “Well, yeah, but--”

“Promise not to think I’m a freak?”

“Yeah, sure, but--”

He cut off abruptly when Chloe placed a hand over his ankle and a glowing white light emanated from her, enveloping him in warmth.

The swelling in his ankle went down instantly and he flexed it.  “It’s...fine,” he said in wide-eyed surprise.  He looked up at her.

Chloe just shrugged.  “Don’t tell anyone.  Promise?”

He laughed and it was Chloe’s turned to look surprised.  “You kidding me?  Let’s see,” he leaned down to start lacing on his shoes, “well, I guess they won’t mind you knowing since we’re totally telling them about you, but A.C. can talk to fish, Victor is half computer, Bart can run faster than you can blink, and oh yeah, Dinah can scream.  Really loud.  Really, really loud.”

Chloe stared at him, and Oliver just shook his head.

“Man, we should have made friends with you a lot sooner.”

Chloe just blinked at him.  “Can you do something?” she asked after a while.

He quirked an eyebrow.  “You mean other than charm the pants off of you?” he teased.

She rolled her eyes.

“Well, I can successfully convince all of them not to rip each others’ heads off,” he said, jerking his head confidently in the direction of his friends before rising from the bench.  He stuck out his hand for her.  “Want some hot chocolate?”

Yes, wonderfl story... I read recently on wikipedia:
"According to Al Septien Chloe and Moira became infected by the meteorite during the shower in '89, when they were driving through Smallville." I always wondered when exactly happened.

*claps* That was probably the cutest story ever. I love little!Chlollie and their innocent, obvious love that's brewing. Of course Moira knew as soon as she saw Ollie. *happy sigh* Chloe healing him and Ollie filling her in on everyone's abilities was adorable. Such a great story. ♥

Oh, this was just beautiful!!

I think my favourite bit was Moira's "Oh boy!"

There's just something about this fic that's made the cynical humbug in me go sulk in a dark corner for a while.

Thank you and merry Christmas :-)

Cute but Improvable

Cute but improvable. Bart is from the future so he wouldn't be there, Victor was a regular guy before he got into a car accident and was brought back to life by Luthorcorp as a cyborg. Arthur Curry is believable and so are Dinah and Oliver but wouldn't they be living in different cities? Also Chloe mostly grew up in Metroplolis (that explains her reporter dream job) but then moved to Smallville after her dad lost his job there and got a new on in Smallville (which may have been a demotion).

I really do think that this is cute,

I'm glad you thought it was cute. Now please go back to the top and read the warning label:

"Warnings: Canon has been annihilated. Embrace it. Before you try telling me something doesn't fit, stop yourself and realize: I know."

(smiles) I know that you know but one of my quirks is sharing information with those I consider friend material as a gesture of trust and perhaps as a point of showing that I'm a reliable source of information. Also I think that my point in telling you all of that was that I tried to make it believable until just about the end when my brain caught up with the story. Usually though all FanFiction tends to be AU except for those rarer ones that focus on a person's point of view in a canon situation. I'm not upset about it or anything like that; I just pay lots of attention to detail I suppose...

Did that make ANY sense?
